Kelly McCausey of Work At Home Moms Talk Radio decided to continue their tradition of granting wishes to Work at Home Moms wanting to improve the services they offer from home. Participants at What is Your Christmas Wish e-mailed Kelly with the wish of their dreams.
Personally, I saw the information about the wishlist on Twitter, a microblog, where I "follow" Kelly and see all the cool things she talks about in 140 characters or less. Checking out her wish link, my mind scanned my own wishes. What would help me with my various projects, compliment my online product reviews, and fit nicely with my growing interest & work with journalism and the media? Why not the new FLIP camera? I am seeing women all over the Internet using it to do interviews, book reviews, book clubs, product reviews, etc. It could really bring what I am currently offering the world up a notch! Honestly, I thought it was a pipe dream, a vain wish that certainly could NOT come true.
So, one night, I am twittering away at a Wii Fit Twitter party and I go check out my regular e-mail. No, I didn't win the Wii Fit being given away. I won something better! I got the message from Kelly that out of the requests and funds donated to help working moms, I was being given a FLIP Camera as a grant to my wish. I about fell out of my chair. Chills ran up my spine. Not just because I was being given an awesome gift but because now I have the opportunity & responsibility to really improve what I can offer the world. I was so inspired -- tears were coming down my cheeks.
But the funniest thing, just that day I got an e-mail from another woman who did a commercial film shoot with me. We were both extras. She learned that she had been upgraded to "on-camera" talent and was getting a significant jump in pay for the shoot. I was really disappointed that I hadn't been upgraded or pulled out of the crowd to do something special. And then, I got Kelly's e-mail and I thought - I AM ON-SCREEN talent now! haha. My own camera but . . . . How fun is that!
THANK YOU a million times! Below see my first VLOG with the new FLIP MINO. Want your own? Follow the link below to AMAZON. You too can be your own "on-screen" talent! (NOTE: My daughter, the budding camerawoman, needs some practice so that the image is clearer and not so shaky! And I need to learn more about lighting to get a cleaner clip too. Can you tell I am petting our beagle off screen who came sniffing to see what was up? My daughter says it looked "random" the way my arm starts moving but you can't see the dog. Please don't judge the FLIP or what I hope to offer from this camera on what you see here! Here's to new beginnings! It can only go uphill from here. )
