Today is a quiet day. It is not the first day of the week when my mind is spinning with all I need to get done. It's not Tuesday when you are still on full-steam ahead. It's not hump day or Wednesday when you start winding into the weekend.
It's Thursday when you start to wrap up your week's work and look at what you did and what you still want to get done. Tomorrow I have a NYC opportunity that I would love to attend but we'll see what I can get accomplished today before heading out again.
The house is gloriously quiet. The landslide of activities have come to a quiet standstill and it is the perfect day to look back and assess the damage - what got accomplished, what got knocked down and what got covered over in the early part of the week.
I've had a sick kid who I let stay home on Tuesday. Praise the Lord she decided she likes folding socks. Wow, was that a blessing or what? I have another daughter who is learning how to put on cover-up and is hogging the bathroom mirror creating one of many scenes I foresee in my future as a mom of two pre-teen daughters.
This week, I have been trying to decide what is most important in all the activities I do and focusing on those to get the important ones knocked out before Thanksgiving break. Today I am working on creating an online course for Writing for the Media for next semester and deciding how best to teach my Communications Theory and Intro to Digital Media class on Monday. The communications class is tough because teaching it is like learning a whole new language in which each theorist came up with his or her own dialect. It is interesting though and I am enjoying learning about some of the major theorists of the last century and how their thoughts and works have major significant impacts on our world today.
But, if I am going to accomplish anything today, I do need to get off here. Later I hope to write about the gift certificates Genuardi's sent me to shop and learn about all their lowered prices and to write about the event I am going to tonight with some local mom bloggers. Should be fun and you will definitely hear about it soon.
Have a great day. Enjoy moments of quiet reflection and if they seem tough to come by - create the opportunity because that is when the pieces come together.

Teaching is a tough job. I admire your fortitude.
