Great post! My kids do the same thing and it makes me crazy. Why is it so hard for them to fess up to a minor misdemeanor? Half the time it's about snack food as well. (And yes, our poor dog has been wrongly accused too).
I think nothing would warm my heart more than hearing, "I did it. I was wrong. I'm sorry."
You're right that honesty and integrity are oh, so important character traits.
